LIKE TO KNOW IT

No matter how much I adore dewy skin, luminous cheeks, shimmery eye lids, and glossy lips, I can also appreciate the simple sophistication of a matte makeup look. For those of you want to incorporate more of this classic finish into your routine, here are five of my matte makeup must-haves.

The Garnier SkinActive 5-in-1 Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream (review here) continues to amaze me with its high quality oil-free formula and beautiful finish. Although I have dry skin and typically dislike matte foundations, this never looks cakey and it prevents my t-zone from becoming shiny throughout the day, making it my go-to for hot, humid weather. This is compatible with all different skin types, so if you are looking for a lightweight and long-lasting medium coverage base with a natural matte finish for everyday use, this is my top recommendation.

I have repurchased my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder so many times because of its finely milled texture and affordable price. I use it every day to set my under eye concealer and mattify around my nose; I find that it prevents any creasing and makes my makeup last longer since it combats oiliness so effectively. I alaways make sure to have it with me on vacation and special events since it is the perfect little powder for touch-ups.

The Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (review here) will always hold a special place in my heart and in my makeup collection due to its effortlessly blendable formula and quintessential matte bronze shade. Its completely non-shimmery finish means that it addition to warming up the complexion, it can also be used to create the illusion of shadows on the face. This is by far my favorite bronzer and I think the stunning and multi-purpose finish make it completely worth the price.

As you can probably tell from the many makeup looks I have demonstrated on my blog, I definitely prefer shimmery shades on my eyes, but when I am in the mood for an all-matte look or even just needing some luxurious transition shades, I always reach for the Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette (review here).  If you could only pick one all-matte palette, please check out this one because the range of neutral shades and the array of undertones are so complimentary on all skin tones and the compact packaging is so wonderful when travelong.

Whenever I want a lip product that is actually matte, I always reach for my beloved Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick (review here). It dries down to a matte finish, does not transfer, lasts for ages, and never feels drying. I am obsessed with the shade ‘Bombshell’ — a lovely peachy nude — and I already know this will be featured in my upcoming January favorites!

I hope you found this post helpful and I would love to hear about your matte must-haves!

XOXO,
Makena
