I’m Makena, the creator and editor of Makeup By Makena — a beauty blog dedicated to empowering others through the art of makeup.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always felt more me in makeup. Bare skin is beautiful, but the power of the perfect nude lip or radiant foundation should never be underestimated. The time I devote to doing my makeup each morning is my absolute favorite part of the day because it is the time when I am most happy — the time when I choose to love myself.
I strive to empower others in the same
way that makeup empowers me.
I began this blog in 2015 to pursue my lifelong passions for beauty and writing. Now, I am 23, and what started as a way to share what I loved with others has developed into a digital magazine that has grown with me through high school, college, and my journalism career.
