Winter is such a magical season for so many different reasons, but unfortunately, it does no favors for my dry skin. Over the past year, I have tried many different products to help hydrate and moisturize my face during the colder weather, and today, I will be talking about my top two favorite skin care products that have truly transformed my Winter routine, making makeup application so much better! Before I start, I want to mention that both of these products can be used throughout the entire year, even during the summer, but Winter is when we need them the most!
The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is a Korean skin care product that is the ultimate gel for intense hydration – it can be purchased for $24 from Target. I first tried this a year ago when I got a sample in a magazine, and this after repurchasing a full-sized container, I love how this literally saves my dry skin in the Winter! My acne treatment combined with dry, winter skin results in flakey, tight, and dehydrated skin, which makes it impossible to achieve a flawless face with makeup. However, this honestly transforms my skin overnight, making it smooth, glowy, plump, and most of all hydrated, which also makes applying makeup so much easier and prettier! Even though this is called a mask, I actually feel that it is just the perfect night-time moisturizer because it feels very light and soothing, and absorbs quickly without feeling sticky. If you have very dry skin, then you can apply a thin layer as a moisturizer in the morning, or you can simply use it after you cleanse and moisturize to hydrate your skin overnight! This does not clog pores and is ideal for sensitive skin, even near eyes. It has a calming scent and the jar lasts forever. There are some mixed reviews for this, but personally, I love this product for my dry skin!
My second skincare staple is the Mario Bedescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater, which is $7 from Ulta! My best blogging friend, Sofia from Born to Be Bright, talked about this product in a few of her posts and ever since I took her advice and tried it, I have been obsessed. The best thing about this is how versatile it is – it can be used for so many different things and I recommed it to any skin type. My favorite way of using this product is to drench my face with it before I go to bed every night after I cleanse and moisturize my skin to lock in the hydration. I also use it after my morning skin care routine to waken up and hydrate my skin, letting it dry for at least five minutes before starting my makeup. This makes my skin feel so fresh and rejuvenated during the Winter, and I cannot recommend it enough! Spritzing a light layer of this over my completed look makes my makeup blend in more with my skin and makes it more glowy, and I also use it to make shimmery eyeshadows more pigmented and metallic. In case you needed another incentive, this rosewater mist is also very similar to, if not better than, my MAC Fix Plus!
These products have been essential steps in my skin care routine and also make applying makeup a dream! What products do you rely on for hydration during the Winter?

Makena

Thanks so much for the follow; hopefully since we have the same skin type you will find my reviews and other posts helpful! I’ll check out your lovely blog now! xoxo
I’m so glad you love the Mario Badescu Rosewater as much as I do! I use it the same way you do, drench my skin before bed. This is also a lifesaver if I’m sitting in front of my laptop a lot (which is all the time) I just spritz one or two sprays on my face and I instantly feel so much better. Much love
Thank you SO much for recommending it to me and doing your facial mist guide! It was crazy helpful and I do not know what I would do without it! xoxo
After I saw this post I started using mine more in my makeup routine rather than strictly in my skincare routine and I’ve been enjoying it a lot!! I’m glad you wrote this post, I’ve been kind of neglecting it lately!
Oh, wow, I’m glad too! It also works for spraying on brushes before stippling on foundation, for intensifying eyeshadows, and also i read that it works on dry hair, too. It really is the best! xoxo
I love using it on foundation brushes and with eyeshadows, but I’ll have to try it on my hair too!
