Today is a very exciting day because it marks the beginning of Summer, which means I have put together a makeup edit in which I am sharing my top ten beauty products for the current season. Prepare yourself for long-wearing SPF-infused base products, luminous finishes for the cheeks, bronzed eyelids, and lots of luster on the lips!

Swatches Left to Right: Elf Bronzer, Elf Blush, Becca ‘Opal’, ColourPop ‘Amaze’, NARS ‘St-Paul-de-Vence’ Duo, Sephora ‘Cocoa’, NARS ‘Supervixen’, Almay ‘Cantaloupe Cream’

Although I love wearing lightweight BB creams in the Summer, sometimes a girl just needs a little foundation, and that is when my Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup comes in handy. It has SPF 20 with a very long-lasting  satin finish that will cooperate with all skin types even on those long, hot summer days. It has offers a solid medium coverage, yet still looks like beautiful, healthy skin.

Whether I want to wear the least amount of makeup as possible or just need additional coverage, the MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer is the absolute best for spot concealing. It can be so frustrating to add  layer after layer of product only to still find redness peeking through, but this creamy formula has intense pigmentation that makes blemishes completely disappear.

Regardless of how many times I remind myself, I sometimes forget to to apply sunscreen before I begin my makeup, so the Coola Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30 is a life saver. I love the idea of ‘touching up’ my sun protection throughout the day while extending the wear of my makeup at the same time.

You can never go wrong with a wash of warmth and a pop of color during the warmer months, so the Elf Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in ‘St. Lucia’ is a lovely and budget-friendly option. The powders may look chunky in the pan, but once blended, they look beautiful. The bronzer shade is very pigmented and great for contouring, while the blush is a luminous pink that adds so much life to the face.

Although a gorgeous glow should never be confined to one specific season, Summer screams highlighter, which is why I enjoy using the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter in ‘Opal. This golden champagne shade looks amazingly radiant when mixed in with foundation, blended on the highpoints of the face, or worn underneath another powder.

Summer is the perfect time of year to pull out those gilded eyeshadow shades and the ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in ‘Amaze’ is a stunning peachy gold with multi-dimensional glitter. The cream to powder formula is unbelievably pigmented and easy-to-use, and I always feel so special when I wear this.

Another one of my top picks for Summer is the NARS ‘St-Paul-de-Vence’ Duo Eyeshadow. This particular duo consists of a sheer, shimmering peachy-coral and a matte medium brown, both of which look so wonderful blended in and above the crease. For whatever reason, this combination of colors and finishes adds so much depth to my eyes, making it my go-to option for photos and vacations.

I don’t wear eyeliner all the time, but it does make such a big difference in the final outcome of my makeup, so I highly recommend checking out the Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear in ‘Cocoa’. This shimmery dark brown with bronze shimmer makes every single eye color pop and formula is very creamy and pigmented, ideal for beginners. Plus, it’s waterproof, so you don’y have to cancel your plans at the beach!

I could not compile a list of my favorite makeup for Summer without mentioning my beloved NARS Lip Gloss in ‘Supervixen’! It is the most beautiful warm bronze shade with mauve undertones and it layers over all of my favorite lipsticks. The color payoff is exceptional and the thin and non-sticky consistency is superb, making it everything I could ever ask for in a gloss. I don’t say this often, but if you love gloss, you need this in your life!

One of my favorite things to do in the Summer is to wear a medium-toned brown lipstick and then top it with a bright peach or coral gloss. The Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in ‘Cantaloupe Cream never fails to acheive this look; it feels super soft and moisturizing on the lips, and has just the right amount of pigmentations and glossiness.

Now that Summer has officically arrived, which products do think I would love?

XOXO,
Makena
