Nude lipstick is both essential and timeless, but I have learned from experience that it can be very challenging to find the correct shade of nude to best complement your skin; everyone’s skin tone is different, which means that my perfect nude lipstick, might not be yours. Today, I am sharing my top five nude lip products for medium-tan skin tones, so if this sounds like something that could benefit you, then please keep reading.

Lining my lips makes all the difference when wearing nudes and I have never loved any lip liner as much as I love the Lipstick Queen Lip Liner in ‘Nude’ — I love the formula because it is creamy enough to easily glide over the lips and stay comfortable, but still stiff enough to have an intense color payoff and last a long amount of time. This shade is a flattering brown with slight pinky undertones that adds so much natural definition to the lips and pairs beautifully with almost anything you could think of!

The MAC Matte Lipstick in ‘Velvet Teddy’ is definitely a classic and although it is flattering on so many people, it is much more of a true nude on medium skin tones. This is probably the deepest shade of beige I own, but the warm, peachy undertones make it very wearable and complementary. If you haven’t tried them, MAC lipsticks have one of the best formulas — opaque, smooth, and long-lasting.

I realize that not everyone with tan skin has warm undertones, so for those of you need a more cool-toned nude, the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in ‘Totally Toffee’ would be a great option. Since my skin pulls more golden, I prefer wearing this under a pinky-nude gloss or combined with other lipsticks to make them more subtle, but I think a lot of people could make this beige shade work really well by itself.

The Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in ‘Birthday Suit’ is such a pretty nude on my skin tone because it has slightly pink undertones, but is neither too warm or too cool. This is one of the most foolproof liquid lips I have ever tried — I only need one layer to acheive solid coverage, it quickly dries down to a completely matte finish, it lasts for ages, and it isn’t drying!

My all-time favorite gloss — the NARS Lip Gloss in ‘Supervixen’ — is the ultimate tan-enhancing product for your pout. There is just something about this deeper mauve shade with refined golden shimmer that instantly makes me look much more bronzed and the high-shine finish immediately adds life back to my complexion. These are never sticky, have the perfect amount of color payoff, and last an impressive amount of time. Please trust me — if you have a medium skin tone, you will love this, especially for the Summer!

In case you were wondering why I didn’t talk about some of my most-used shades (like Wet N Wild ‘Bare It All’), I wanted this post to only include true nudes and not pinky-mauve nudes, which is the color I most frequently wear. Which nude lippies work best for your skin tone?
