For a makeup lover, falling in love with a high quality and affordable foundation is one of the most exciting experiences ever and today I am very excited because I have found not one, but two high quality, affordable foundations. Today I will be reviewing and comparing the  L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation. Both products cost around $13 or less and can be purchased at Ulta or any drugstore. They are both available in 12 shades, but the shade names and numbers do not correspond between the two lines, which can make it confusing if you want to try both products. As for the packaging, both foundations, come in squeeze tube and both claim to last 24 hours.

Pro-Matte has a thick a consistency with a whipped-like texture. I am used to wearing more liquidy bases, so this felt a little heavy on my skin. It has an oil-free formula without any SPF, so it will not have flashback in photos.

This foundation has a matte finish, which would work perfectly for anyone with normal to oily foundation. I have dry skin, so unfortunately this product does not work for me unless I mix it with moisturizer for a more natural look. As you can see in the photos, this emphasized my dry patches, made the fine lines around my mouth and forehead more prominent, accentuated facial hair I never noticed before, and looked cakey around my nose and in between my eyebrows. This is not to say it is poor quality, it is just not as compatable with dry or mature skin, but it you have oily skin, you probably would not experience any of those issues and this would honestly be my top recommendation.

It provides a solid full coverage with the first layer, which is amazing for easily concealing redness, acne, or any other imperfections. This is actually the only truly full coverage foundation I have tried and I really liked the way it made my skin look, so I think this would be great to wear to special event or for photos if you tend to have more shiny skin.

I have the shade ‘107 – Fresh Beige’, which is way too orange for my skin, so I just had to try to make it work. That is one of the cons of drugstore foundation, since you are not able to test the shades before purchasing. To balance out its texture, I think this definitely applies best with a damp beauty sponge, which will absorb any excess product and add some hydration. This sets completely, does not transfrer, and looks like I have already applied powder. Obviously, I have not tried wearing this foundation for 24 hours, but it does last an extremely long amount of time and looks better throughout the day.

L’Oreal Pro-Glow is definitely one of my all time favorite foundations. It honestly is everything I want in a foundation, feels so luxurious, and makes my skin look and feel so gorgeous. Unlike Pro-Matte, this foundation has a very liquidy consistency that feels lightweight on the skin. Because of its watery texture, I do not like the packaging since it often runs out without even squeezing the tube, which can be messy and wasteful. This particular formula has SPF 15, but does not claim to be oil-free.

As its name suggests, Pro-Glow has a very radiant finish, making it ideal for normal to dry skin types as well as mature skin. As I mentioned before, I have dry skin and this feels very hydrating without emphasizing any dry patches. If you have oily skin, I would not suggest this because it will most likely look and feel very greasy.

With significantly less concentrated pigment than Pro-Matte but significantly more than most glowy foundations on the market, Pro-Glow has a medium, but very buildable coverage. Regardless of whether I apply one layer or three, it never looks cakey on my skin and it does cover all of my redness and acne while still looking natural.

I use the shade ‘205 – Natural Beige’, which is a medium tan shade with warm undertones that matches me really well. Like always, I prefer to apply this with a beauty sponge, but for more coverage and less dewiness, a foundation brush would also work well. When I wear this, I use a translucent setting powder in my t-zone to prevent my skin from becoming oily throughout the day. I have found that this foundation lasts beautifully for at least eight hours or until I remove it.

These two foundations are genuinelly some of the best ones I have ever tried and depending on your skin type and makeup preferences, I am sure you will also fall in love with L’Oreal Pro-Matte or Pro-Glow! I hope you found this review and comparison helpful! Have you tried either of these products? Which one do you like best?

XOXO,
Makena
