LIKE TO KNOW IT

A few months ago, I had the idea to try out my favorite beauty influencers’ most favorite makeup products. I asked over ten of my most loved influencers, and almost all of them responded. Based on their recommendations, I had a last-minute shopping spree at Sephora, Nordstrom, and CVS. Here’s what happened.

{MORGAN FAYKIEHL’S ULTRA FACIAL CREAM}

Morgan is one of my favorite professional makeup artists on Instagram. Her looks are the epitome of glamor while still remaining neutral, and I love that I can recognize them on my feed right away. She recommended the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream ($32), saying that it is hydrating but not oily and the key to flawless makeup. Although I was not able to purchase this product, I have tried it before and found it incredibly moisturizing and a great base before foundation.

{ELANNA PECHERLEMAYBELLINE DREAM URBAN COVER FOUNDATION}

I have always appreciated how easy-to-follow and wearable all of Elanna’s YouTube tutorials are, and she is truly a ray of sunshine in the beauty community.  She said her most loved makeup product of the year was the Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Flawless Coverage Foundation ($13),  as it works well with her oily skin. This made me a little nervous because I have dry skin, but I bought it anyway. I wear the shade ‘Soft Tan,’ and love how well it lasts throughout the day without looking shiny or cakey. This will be great for summer!

{JOSI PELLICANODIOR NUDE AIR SERUM FOUNDATION}

In addition to having the most aesthetic Instagram I’ve ever seen, Josi is amazing at engaging with her followers and always willing to help her followers. Her all-time favorite beauty product is one that I had never heard of before: the Dior Diorskin Nude Air Ultra-Fluid Serum Foundation ($53). With a dew finish, buildable coverage, antioxidants, and SPF 25, it is great for her dry, acne-prone skin. We have similar skin types and Josi’s makeup always looks so pretty, so I was beyond excited to test this out myself. It has a very liquidy, lightweight consistency, and I’ve loved using it on its own and combining it with more full coverage foundations. I wear the shade ‘040 Honey Beige,’ and it looks beautiful in person and in photographs.

{ELYSE MORENCYMAYBELLINE FIT ME CONCEALER}

I am so grateful to have discovered Elyse here on WordPress. Her beauty and lifestyle content is useful and original, and she is so genuine. Her all-time favorite beauty product is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ($7), which has been a staple in my collection for years. I wear the ‘Sand’ color, and I have purchased more of these than I can count. Like Elyse said, it is creamy, natural, hydrating, long-wearing, and, of course, affordable. It covers imperfections while smoothing out my base makeup, and never becomes dry and flakey like other concealers.

{ASHLEY TORRESSEPHORA COLLECTION GEL SERUM CONCEALER}

Everyday Pursuits is one of my most loved Instagram accounts, and her stories and IGTV videos always make my day brighter. I trust her opinion so much when it comes to products, and she recommended the Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer ($14). She described it as a more affordable and more hydrating alternative to the famous full coverage Tarte Shape Tape. This has incredible coverage and a thin consistency for an extra smooth finish.

{SOFIAMILK MAKEUP MATTE BRONZER}

Sofia from Born to be Bright was one of my first blogging friends, and I am so thankful for her! She has really unique and uplifting content, and I have always admired her minimalist approach to makeup. One of the products she encouraged me to try was something I have heard so many great things about: the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer ($15) in ‘Baked.’ I picked up the mini size because I already own a few cream bronzers, but if you can, purchase the larger size instead because you get five times the amount of product for only double the cost. Unfortunately, my twist-up applicator broke, so I haven’t been able to use it very much, but it is very creamy and easy to blend. It has a perfect warm-neutral undertone and would work well on most skin tones.

{JACKIE WYERSCHARLOTTE TILBURY BEAUTY HIGHLIGHTER WAND}

Jackie is one of my favorite YouTubers because she comes up with makeup tutorials that no one else has ever done before, including recreations of movie and TV show characters. She is relatable and so talented. According to her DM, the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Highlighter Wand ($38) in ‘Spotlight,’ a radiant, silvery rose gold, is one of her all-time favorites. I’ve always wanted to try move from this beautiful brand, and I absolutely love cream highlighters. I was disappointed with how little product comes in this tube considering the price, especially since it is so subtle. However, if you consistently have texture or blemishes on the area you want to highlight, then I do think this is worth the investment because it blurs them away.

{ALEXANDRA REYNOLDSCHARLOTTE TILBURY CHEEK TO CHIC BLUSH}

Just one look at Alexandra’s bright, colorful, and perfectly planned out Instagram feed makes me relaxed, happy, and excited to play with makeup and skincare. She is so kind, and if you’re not already following her account, then you’re missing out. She said her favorite makeup item is by far the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic Blush ($40). I loved so many of the shades but ended up buying ‘Pillow Talk.’ The outer ring is a pinky-nude with a satin finish, while the inner circle is a shimmery champagne highlighter shade. These are so expensive, but they have just the right amount of pigment, blend beautifully, and honestly last longer than blush that I know of.

{MCKENZIE MORGANARDELL DEMI WISPIES}

Styled by Mckenz has been one of my favorite blogs for years, and I am always so excited to see what big things Mckenzie is doing next. She said she loves the Ardell Demi Wispies Black Eyelashes in the style ‘105.’ I am so happy I found these. Sometimes I struggle to get the inner and outer corners to stay down at first, but once I apply them, they are good to go. They are definitely not overly dramatic or obnoxious in person like most falsies I’ve tried, but they look absolutely gorgeous in photos, which I love.

Thank you so much to everyone who was willing to participating in this blog post: It truly means the world and shows how much of a positive effect influencers can have! I have extremely high standards when it comes to makeup and put a lot of thought into each of my purchases, so the fact that I purchased all of these on a whim and still love and use them says a lot about how knowledgeable and trustworthy each of these women are.
