• Know your priorities. One of the best ways to save time when getting ready is to know which particular makeup steps make the biggest difference for your finished look. When I am in a rush, I like to apply my makeup in order of importance, so I always do my foundation or concealer first, followed by mascara and lip gloss, and then bronzer and brows depending on how much time I have. Eliminating any unecessary products and focusing on the ones that have maximum impact is the easiest way to cut down your beauty routine.
• Master your signature look. Anyone who is obsessed with makeup as much as I am knows that it is so tempting to experiment with different products, shades, and techniques, but this takes up a significant amount of time. By creating your very own go-to makeup routine, you will never have to spend time thinking about what to do next and you will become faster and faster the more you do it. Plus, having a signature look is so timeless and classy.
• Keep your collection organized. When all of my makeup is in its proper section, it is so much easier to see all of my options and find what I am looking for. Making the effort to group all of my products according to category is very helpful and I also highly recommend keeping your more natural everyday products in a separate section so you can reach for them more easily.
• Plan out your makeup looks. Visualizing the type of makeup I want to wear the next day and even laying out all of the products I want to use the night before saves so much time in the morning. Debating over whether I want to do rose gold or champagne eyeshadow wastes a lot more time than I realized.
• Listen to music. I recently realized that I do my makeup more quickly when I have my favorite playlist on in the background. Just make sure you are not having to constantly skip songs because that will be end up being the opposite of efficient.
• Simplify your tools. Having a large range of brushes is great when you have unlimited time to spend on your makeup, but if you are trying to get ready faster, then narrowing down the number of brushes you use in your routine is essential. I love using my makeup sponge because it replaces my foundation, concealer, and powder brushes and also can be used for applying cream cheek products. Then, all I need is an eyebrow brush and one or two eyeshadow brushes.
• Choose a versatile base product. For me, having healthy, glowy, and even skin is the most important — and as a result the most time-consuming — part of my entire beauty routine. This is why I always recommend finding your own fail-proof foundation, bb cream, or tinted moisturizer that hydrates and conceals with minimal effort.
• Be innovative. Never be afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to your beauty routine. Bronzer, blush, and highlighter make the perfect eyeshadow trio, lipstick works beautifully as cream blush, and a lighter shade of matte foundation effectively conceals the t-zone.
• Never neutral neutrals. Bright colors may be fun, but they undeniably take more time to blend out and are less forgiving then neutrals. Opting for a nude lipstick rather than a red means that you don’t have to take your time applying it since mistakes won’t be nearly as visible. For me, this tip doesn’t make the biggest difference since I prefer neutrals anyway, but if you’re someone who prefers playing with bolder shades, then this tip can save you some time.
• Use multi-dimensional products. An excellent way to make your beauty routine faster is to purchase products that look as if you put a lot more time and effort into your makeup than you actually did. For example, a luminous tan blush will have the same effect as blush, bronzer, and highlighter, while a shimmery cream eyeshadow will look metallic on the lid but blend out to a different shade and finish in the crease.
