Summer may be my favorite season, but I am always excited to pull out all of my cozy sweaters and, of course, my warm-toned eyeshadow palettes for autumn. Today, I will be sharing a very glamorous makeup look using lots of exciting new products, perfect for transitioning into the new season. This tutorial is extra special because I filmed it and uploaded the video to Instagram TV! Be sure to check it out for helpful tips if you haven’t already; it would mean the absolute world!
{FACE}
As you will see in my video, achieving a luminous, even base is always the primary focus of my makeup routine and occupies the majority of my time. I decided to use my brand new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in ‘Vanuata – Medium 3.5’, which I love because it provides full coverage with a slightly glowy finish and absolutely no cakiness! I mixed in a drop of a sample of the Josie Maran Argan Argan Moonstone Drops Makeup Priming and Highlighting Oil, which I also really liked as it made the foundation more dewy, easy to blend, and long-lasting. To highlight and disguise any discoloration, I applied my new Tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer in ’25-S Light-Medium Sand’. This is thicker and more full coverage than what I typically use, but it is extremely hydrating and dewy, making it perfect for anyone with dry skin to use on special occasions. For a subtle cream contour, I used my Tarte The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer in ‘Park Ave Princess’ and then set my under eyes and t-zone with the BareMinerals ‘Mineral Veil’ Setting Powder using a damp beauty sponge. Once I complete all of my makeup, I will spray my face with my L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray.
{CHEEKS}
For a naturally luminous warmth on my cheeks and temples, I blended out my Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion Bronzer in ’25I – Soft Iridescent Cinnamon’ and for a pop of neutral, cool-toned pink, I applied my MAC Powder Blush in ‘Blushbaby’. For an all-over glow, I dusted on a very light layer of the Colourpop Pressed Powder Highlighter in ‘Total Package’, a stunning rose gold shade like no other, over my blush. This is a very intense highlighter, so if you like a more natural radiance, I would skip this step.
{EYES}
After filling in my eyebrows with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in ‘Medium Brown’, it is now time for eyeshadow! I used the beautiful Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette — a unique combination of warm browns and purples of all different finishes. After using ‘Eden’ a matte pop of peach as a transition shade, I carved out my crease with a cool-toned, matte beige called ‘Musk’. On my outer v, I applied ‘Oud’, a warm, matte mahogany, and I stamped ‘Royal’, a stunning plum shimmer, on my lower outer corner. After patting ‘Cashmere’, a shimmery taupe, all over the entire lid, I applied the Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadows in ‘Weenie’ and ‘La La’ to the very center of the lid for a pop of metallic rose gold. For bold lashes, I applied a couple coats of my favorite Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.
{LIPS}
To complete this lovely, mauve makeup look, I used my recently-purchased NARS Velvet Lip Glide in ‘Swing’, a hybrid between a liquid lipstick and a gloss in my signature pinky-nude shade. These are unbelievably pigmented and smooth, smell like vanilla, and have no stixky texture.
I apologize that I have not been blogging regularly over the past few months, but I am so busy with college and promise to try harder. I would love if you would share your thoughts on this look and, of course, leave any requests! Thanks so much for spending your day with me!
XOXO,
Makena
