Spring just may be my favorite season for makeup and to celebrate, I am collaborating with my best blogging friend, Sofia, from Born to Bright. She and her beauty and lifestyle blog are so professional and unique. I love reading all of her well-written and beautifully-photographed makeup posts; I truly admire her work-ethic, her voice and style, and her empowering message, and am so grateful for her endless support!

Primer
To prepare my skin for the makeup I will applying, I enjoy using the Mario Badescu Facial Speay with Aloe, Herb, and Rosewater because of its hydrating, toning, and soothing properties. The mist is so fine and it is an incredible way to start off my day.

Foundation
Whenever I think of Spring makeup, I cannot help but envision dewy skin, and the absolute best product to acheive that is the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation! Although this can be built up to a solid medium coverage, I like to apply only a sheer layer to even out my skin tone and bring radiance back to my dry skin.

 Concealer
I thought I would give you all a break from reading about how much I adore my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, so instead I will share with you a completely different concealer that is also wonderful… The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer provides medium to full coverage with a matte finish. I dab this under my eyes and in the center parts of my face to balance out the sheer and dewy consistency of my foundation. This is the perfect way to let the majority of my skin shine through while still keeping the center of my face from becoming oily later on in the day.

Bronzer
During this time of the year, I prefer to wear a more subtle bronzer and the product I have been reaching for most frequently is my  NYC Sun ‘n’ Bronze Bronzing Powder in “Fire Island Tan”. I first apply this under my cheekbones for definition, and then blend it more upwards than I normally would for added color. My favorite thing about this is that it is has the most beautiful, glowy sheen when blended out, yet it has no visible shimmer, which can be challenging to find at such a low price. I also love that this particular shade has more neutral undertones rather than warmer ones, and the fact that it is more sheer allows me to build it up to my desired effect.

Blush
The blush from the e.l.f. Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in “St. Lucia” is a lovely shimmering pinky-peach color for Spring! I have to admit that in the pan, this looks chunky and glittery, yet somehow, when I apply this with a fluffly blush brush, the formula transforms into one that is smooth and luminous.

Highlighter
I know I have talked about the Hard Candy “Tiki” Highlighter several times before on my blog, but to be honest it is the only drugstore highlighter I own and it is so stunning I feel no need to try anything else! Rather than being shimmery, this baked powder has only an intense, glowy sheen which can be amplified when dampened. In addition to highlighting the high points of my face, I also like to mix a bit of it with my tranluscent powder for a less mattifying way to set my makeup.

Eyeshadow
There is no season better for peach eyeshadows than Spring so I have been making the most out of my Sonia Kashuk “Fair and Square” Eye Shadow Quad. This formula is not the most pigmented, but when paired with a primer, the four peach-inspired colors can be combined to create a soft and feminine look. I usually apply the bottom left peachy-rose shade damp all over the lid, the top left matte peach shade in and above the crease, and the bottom right shimmery-taupe color on the outer corner.

Mascara
L’Oreal mascaras will always be my ride or die, but ever since I first tried it, the Maybelline Lash Sensational in “Blackest Black” has been another of my favorites. It adds lots of length and curl, and makes me eyelashes so separated and pretty for daytime.

Lipstick
On a day to day basis, I like to wear something easy-to-apply, netural, comfortable, and, of course, pretty! The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in “Pink Cognito” is one of my favorites for Spring because it is glossy and moisturizing, girly and wearable. It is great for one-the-go and to me, the peachy-nude shade just screams Spring.

Thank you for visiting my blog and please be sure to show Sofia’s blog some love as she is one of the most genuine and talented bloggers I know!

XOXO,
Makena
