When my passion for makeup first developed, I remember how challenging it was to find eyeshadows that performed well without breaking the bank. For those of you who are new to makeup, I rounded up my six favorite drugstore shadows that never fail to impress!

If you are just starting off with makeup and want and want basic yet beautiful color combinations, I recommend the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quads. There are 15 shades to choose from, but my favorite is ‘Chai Latte’, which contains a metallic gold, a satin chocolate, a matte cool-toned beige, and a shimmery vanilla shade.

I haven’t talked about the NYX Prismatic Shadows very much on my blog, so I thought now would be the perfect time to do so… With a wide range of neutral and bold colors to choose from, these singles are so pigmented and metallic. They blend out beautifully and I love the shades ‘Bedroom Eyes’, a bronzey brown, and ‘Rose Dust’, a coppery rose gold.

My all time favorite eyeshadow formula is, of course, the L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Shadows. These are similar to the Prismatics, but are pressed pigments with even an more intense color payoff and high shine finish. I don’t know how L’Oreal makes such a high quality formula at such an affordable price, but I do know I am very appreciative!

If you don’t want to spend lots of money on makeup, but still want a really pigmented and blendable formula, all of the Wet n Wild eyeshadows are incredible! Although this is one of the cheapesst brands at the drugstore, I find their shadows to be just as good as, if not better than, Mac or Urban Decay ones! I love the ‘Walking on Eggshells’ trio and the ‘Comfort Zone’ palette.

For those of you who prefer cream formulas, the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadows are a wonderful option. They are definitely one of the most easy-to-use formulas on the market, so if you are new to makeup, I think you will love these! I am always so impressed with how long-lasting they are, but my favorite thing about them is that when you apply them all over your lid and then blend out the crease, it creates a beautiful transition shade that looks like you put in so much effort!

The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are unbelievably pretty, and so simple and fun to use! Unlike similar products that disappear when you try to blend them out, these always turn out perfect when worn by themselves or under powder shadows. I the shade ‘Yogurt’, a lovely shimmery pink champagne.

What are your favorite affordable and beginner-friendly eyeshadows?

XOXO,
Makena

I love the Maybelline City mini palettes, especially the chill brunch neutrals and the rooftop bronzes ones. Nice post!
