Today is a very exciting day — I am moving into my dorm and beginning my sophomore year at college! Because I have already shared with you the makeup products I will be bringing with me to school, I thought it might be helpful to write about a few of the ones I have decided to leave at home. Although I genuinely love each of the five products I will be discussing, I have limited space and feel that other products are more suitable.

As with all of the products mentioned in today’s post, the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette is both gorgeous and high quality; however, with its duochrome purples and glittery reds, this particular color range is not the most practical or appropriate for Monday morning classes. For occasions when I do want to wear mor bold shimmers, I can choose some of the plums or corals from my Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette.

I love the way NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation makes my skin look, but realistically, I know I won’t be needing to wear a full coverage base very often. I prefer to keep my skin looking (somewhat) natural and feeling weightless, so the last thing I want to do is fall in love with an expensive bottle of foundation that I originally purchased for special occasions.

Another product I chose not to bring to my dorm this year is my CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base . I actually think this is a great bronzer for everyday use, especially since creams look very seamless and natural on the skin, but since it is very expensive, I would never want it to melt or get misplaced during the school year.

The ColourPop Pressed Powder Highlighter in ‘Total Package’ is a beautiful rose gold shade perfect for anyone who enjoys wearing blinding metallic highlighters. I think a light layer of this looks so pretty when worn as a blush topper, but because this formula does consist of slightly chunky shimmers, I definitely think I will reach for my ‘lit-from-within’ highlighters more this semester.

Winged liner has never been a part of my signature look and despite my appreciation for the occasional cat flick, I plan on saving precious dorm room space by leaving the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner at home. When I do wear liner, I opt for my little Maybelline gel liner, which is also easy and effective.

What products do you reach for less often during the school year?

XOXO,
Makena
