If you don’t have a ‘normal’ skin type, it can be challenging to find the perfect highlighter without spending an absurd amount of money, but luckily for you, the Hard Candy Glow All the Way Baked Highlighter in ‘Tiki’ is the perfect highlighter for all skin types!
This can be purchased for $9.00 from Walmart, Amazon, or Hard Candy’s website. This product is actually marketed as a bronzer, but this specific shade is definitely light enough to be a highlighter on almost all skin tones. ‘Tiki’ is a stunning golden champagne shade with yellow undertones.
Unlike typical highlighters, which are made from pressed powders, this one is baked, meaning it is actually a cream formula that has been heated in an oven until dry. As a result of this method, ‘Tiki’ has a silky smooth texture, a marbled color with intense pigmentation, and a luminous finish that looks beautiful applied both wet and dry. My favorite thing about this product is that it has no individual shimmers or sparkles in it — just a naturally radiant glow that melts into the skin.
As many of you already know, I have very dry skin, and love this product’s versatility! When brushed on the cheekbones, it never accentuates any dry patches like other powder formulas would. I also love to combine a little of ‘Tiki’ with a translucent pressed powder on a slightly damp beauty sponge, using it to set my under eye area and even t-zone; this prevents my face from becoming oily while still maintaining a more luminous finish.
Although the thought of intentionally adding even more radiance to your face may send those of you with oily and combination skin running in the opposite direction, I think you will really love this highlighter. The long-lasting powder formula provides a believable — rather than greasy — glow.
I have struggled with acne prone skin for years and nothing is worse than painstakingly concealing a blemish only to accidentally highlight it later. ‘Tiki’ is a very soft, gentle highlighter so it does an amazing job of adding glow without emphasizing (or causing) spots or texture.
Unfortunately, this skin type often gets overlooked in the beauty community, but I am so in love with the way this highlighter looks on mature skin. Since it is subtle and smooth rather than sparkly, it does not draw attention to fine lines; instead, it looks very natural and very youthful, visibly improving the appearance of skin.
Overall, this is both an affordable and high quality highlighter, and I definitely recommend giving it a chance. Have you tried this highlighter before? If not, which one do you love?
XOXO,
Makena
