Happy Halloween! In case you have not yet noticed, I have an adorable cat (who somehow sneaks into all of my flatlays), so even though it is the least creative Halloween costume ever, I thought it would be fun to do a tutorial for this glamorous black cat Halloween makeup look! I tried to make my makeup a little different from the usual costume, with a sleek cut crease and dramatic feline-inspired eyeliner, so I hope you like it!
{CAT EYES}
When you are creating a cat makeup look, obviously the eyes are the most important part, and have the ability to transform the look from basic to beautiful! After priming, I blended a neutral matte beige shadow in and above the crease and outer corner as a transition shade. The neutral matte brown applied directly in and slightly above the crease on a precise brush adds stunning dimension and sultriness, really standing out in photos. Next, use a neutral matte light-colored eyeshadow all over the lid, carving out under the bown shade to create a precise cut crease! Now that eyeshadow is complete, we can now move onto the most important part of the look: the eyeliner! I used the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in “Black” because it lasts forever, does not move, is extremely black, and is creamy and easy to use. First, I did my liner just like I normally would with an equal thickness from inner to outer corner. Then, for a feline feel, I brought it all the way down to the very inner corner, creating a little triangle shape at the inner tear duct. Now for the wing, I followed the natural curve of my eye up and out towards the tail of my brow in a straight thin line. Then, I connected that line towards the original line, filling in the triangle-shaped space that I created for a flawless cat eye! If you struggle with eyeliner, then this can take a few tries, so I highly recommend doing your eyeliner first before your eyeshadow so you can easily fix it if you make a mistake without ruining your beautiful cut crease; then, you can always easily trace back over it once you finish your shadow to darken it up again! I also ran this liner on my lower lashline and waterline because it is more waterproof than a pencil eyeliner. If you want an extra smokey lower lashline, you can go in with a black eyeshadow and smudge out the outer corner. For extra dramatic, voluminous, and long lashes, I used the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara after curling my lashes, but falsies would be gorgeous! To make this look even more unique, you could also add some silver glitter to the cut crease or directly above the black liner for more dimensional look.
{KITTY FACE}
The face makeup for this look is very simple and quick, and you can easily alter it to make it perfect for your Halloween costume! For a dewy, long-lasting base, I used the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. For this kitty-inspired look, I wanted a pretty intense under-eye highlight, so I applied a light shade of my favorite Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. After lightly setting my entire face to ensure that nothing fades or smears, I did a dramatic cat-like contour under my cheekbones, on my forehead, and around my jawline for a structured appearance using the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. I blended the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in “Scratch,” a frosty light pink, onto my cheeks for a unique glowy blush and highlight, which really added to the overall feel of this special look! For the final touches, I used my Maybelline gel liner to create little whiskers on my cheeks, dots around my nose, and a little nose connecting to my upper lip! Just like before, this liner will last throughout the day and night without smearing, which is just we need for Halloween! Finish off this adorable look with the lip products of your choice; I used Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in “Seduction,” a pinky nude.
I hope you enjoyed reading this Halloween tutorial as much as I enjoyed making it, and I hope it was not too cliche! What are you going to be for Halloween? Let me know down below!
Have a happy and safe Halloween, and XOXO,
Makena
