The Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm is one of the most innovative and loved products in my collection.
A mix between a lipstick and a lip gloss, it truly melts onto the lips for the most stunning high-shine finish.
The ingredients are incredibly intentional. Mango seed butter, avocado oil, and shea butter hydrate the lips, while menthyl lactate offers a cooling sensation. The balms provide a subtle plumping effect, not necessarily making the lips bigger but smoothing fine lines.
I’ve tried similar products from YSL and Tarte, and the Hourglass formula is by far the best.
The product is available in 20 beautiful shades, and I have Rise, a cool-toned beige.
The pigmentation is perfect. It’s not so sheer that you have to apply multiple layers for color payoff but its sheer enough that you can apply it without a mirror.
It looks great over a lip liner or by itself, and it’s not sticky, which can’t be said of all lip products.
For me, $38 for a lip product is a splurge, especially when the formula is so buttery that it may run out more quickly than a traditional lipstick.
Nevertheless, I definitely plan to repurchase the glossy balms because of the quality.
