Today’s makeup tutorial is dedicated to my most worn look this past month or two, which includes fresh, dimensional skin, warm matte bronzer and blush, an intense glowy highlight, and easy shimmery eyes. This in-depth description of my everyday summer makeup routine is filled with lots of helpful tips and unique time-saving techniques, so keep scrolling if you would like some inspiration for your own day-time beauty routine!

After cleansing and moisturizing my face, I am going to prime my face with the Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment, pressing it into the areas where my skin can become oily throughout the day. I love this primer for the summer because it ensures that my makeup will look just as fresh by the end of the day as it did at the beginning and prevents my makeup from clogging my pores without emphasizing my dry skin. For my foundation today, I am going to use the Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily Shine Control (review here) and mix it in with a pump of my everyday summer moisturizer and a few drops of my favorite liquid highlighter. I actually used a discontinued highlighter from Benefit, but the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfectors or the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminators will give your skin that same all-over luminous and healthy glow perfect for both dry and oily skin. I do rotate between several foundations on an everyday basis, but practically everyday this summer, I have been combining my foundation with my moisturizer because it makes it more breathable, sheer and dewy for a more customizable base, which is a great makeup tip! I applied my foundation with the larger side of the Tarte Double Ended Foundation Brush and dampened my brush with water before I stippled it onto my face, blending in circular motions.

This lightweight and naturally luminous mixture of products can be customized to create the perfect base for your everyday summer face.

Like always, I am going to make an upside down triangle shape underneath my eyes with a lighter shade of my beloved Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (review and comparison here), which will both highlight and conceal at the same time! I also dab some on my chin, the center of my forehead, the cupid’s bow, and down the center of my nose to add more dimension to my face and balance out the under-eye highlight. Not only do I use my BeautyBlender to blend out all my concealer, but I also use it to go over the rest of my foundation to make sure it is all perfect.

Another important part of my everyday makeup routine during the summer is my bronzer. The past few months, I have been using the original L’Oreal True Match Foundation to bronze my face, adding extra warmth and definition. This is a very lightweight foundation with a natural finish. Because this is my bronzer/contour , I am using this product in a darker and cooler shade than usual; for example, since I normally use the shade W (warm) 5 for my foundation, today I will be using the shade N (neutral) 7. I am going to put some on the back of my hand, dab the edge of the smaller side of my foundation brush in it, apply a little to the hollows of my cheekbones, my jawline, my temples, and the outers parts of my forehead, and blend it out with my damp BeautyBlender. Now that all my cream and liquid products are finished, I am going to set my concealer and t-zone with powder, applying a small amount of the Rimmel Tranlucent Stay Matte Powder onto my face with a slightly damp BeautyBlender using patting motions.  I am also going to set my bronzer in place with my favorite Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (NYC “Sunny” is also a great alternative).

Using a darker shade of your favorite liquid foundation to bronze or contour your face is a great technique for summer and takes a lot less time! Even my cat likes it!

For my blush today, I am using the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in “Blissful”,  a pretty matte pink blush with coral undertones, blending it right above my bronzer. NYX “Mocha” is a similar dupe. An essential part of all my summer makeup looks is using plenty of highlighter and my personal favorite is BECCA and Jaclyn Hill’s “Champagne Pop!” You can obviously use whichever highlight you already own, but a lovely one from the drugstore is Hard Candy “Tiki”, which has a more natural finish.  After popping on some glorious highlighter onto the highest points of my cheekbones and anywhere else where the sun would naturally hit my face, we are going to move onto our eyes!

Tarte’s “Blissful” Blush, Too Faced’s “Chocolate Soleil” Bronzer, and BECCA’s “Champagne Pop” are some of my favorite products in the summer!

Like always, I primed my eyes with Urban Decay’s Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion. If you wear sunglasses a lot in the summer and find that they mess up your makeup, a very helpful tip is to apply some eyeshadow primer in between your eyes before you do your foundation so that nothing will get messed up! The next thing I am going to do, is take my bronzer (any matte one will work) on a larger fluffy brush and blend the shade into and around my crease. For the main eyeshadow, I am applying my “Champagne Pop” highlighter all over my eyelid staying under the crease for a beautiful everyday shimmery glow. You can apply this with your fingers or with a dry or damp flat eyeshadow brush, either way will work perfectly. The great thing about using your bronzers and highlighters for eyeshadows is that the shades are already ideal for your skintone and they will blend easily, tie in with the rest of your face, save you time and money, and look perfect for summer!

Shimmery golds, champagnes, and bronzer are a great way to brighten up and enhance any eye color for summer!

You can choose to stop your look here, but because I am high maintenence when it comes to my makeup, I am going to use the shades “Honey Pot”, a shimmery gold similar to Urban Decay’s “Half Baked ,” and “Chocolate Martini,” a shimmery brown-bronze shade, from my beloved Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette and blend them on the outer corner of my eye for more definition. I curled my lashes and used the L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Waterproof Mascara. For my eyebrows, I either use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in “Soft Brown” or a random matte eyeshadow that matches my brows to fill them in.

This neutral eyeshadow look uses different finishes and shades to create the perfect everyday look for summer and the best part is that it only takes a few minutes!

In the summer, I always prefer very glossy lips, so the NARS “Supervixen” Lipgloss is always a favorite in my everyday routine because it is the perfect warm mauvey-bronze shade!

Swatches from Left to Right: Tarte “Blissful,” Too Faced “Chocolate Soleil” Matte Bronzer, BECCA x Jaclyn Hill “Champagne Pop,” “Honey Pot” mixed with “Chocolate Martine” from the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette, and NARS “Supervixen” Lipgloss

I hope you learned something new from this post and let me know how my everyday makeup routine was different from yours this summer!

This is an awesome post, your eyes are so pretty! I can never blend any foundation with a brush, it starts to pill almost on my skin! I have to use a sponge or my fingers. Maybe I just need a good foundation brush like that tarte one… Also, I recently started using my Chocolate Soleil Bronzer as a beginning shade for my crease and it looks so good, very summery! I’m excited to try your tip of putting eyeshadow primer between the eyes, glasses don’t like makeup very much ahah.

    • My foundation always looks cakey with a brush, too at first. One tip I recently discovered is directly dampening the brush with some water, setting spray, anything and it well make it more dewy and less thick. When I do use a brush, I always go over it with a BeautyBlender to get rid of al the cakeyness! Hope that helps! I really need to buy a full size Chocolate Soleil because I always go back to it no matter how much I love switching up my bronzers and I hope that tip with the sunglasses works for you! Thanks so much for reading, I always feel like my posts are so long! xoxo

  2. Hey girl! Your look is fabulous and very similar to mine. I use the true match lumi foundation for an extra glow. The true match lumi primer is awesome also. I use either my naked palettes 1 or 2 or my morphe 35o. But I also aim for a bronzed goddess glow 🙂 Have you found that using a beauty blender sponge is better than using a brush? I’m thinking of investing in one.

    • Thank you! L’Oreal True Match Lumi is my holy grail foundation and I’m always raving about it here on my blog, so I thought I’d talk about something different, haha! I’ve actually never tried the Lumi primer, but I really want to! I love my Naked 1 palette for all seasons and I was thinking of doing a special tutorial with it, so let me know if you’d be interested! I always hear Jaclyn Hill talk about the 350 and it looks so pretty! It took me about a year to convince myself to spend money on a BeautyBlender, but it was honestly the best decision I have ever made! I use it everday and mine has lasted about six months and still works despite a few little holes. Using a damp sponge helps make your foundation and concealer look much more natural, dewy, and blended and also helps get rid of cakiness! I’ve never tried it, so I can’t say for sure, but I’ve heard the new Morphe makeup sponge and the Real Techniques one are very good alternatives! Thank you so much for reading and commenting! It makes my day! I’ll make sure to check out your blog, too! xoxo

      • Yes girl! I can’t get enough of the lumi foundation. I actually picked up the normal one in the same shade as my lumi but in the cool tone instead of warm, and it’s great too! And a couple bucks cheaper. Yeah I tend to stay away from using the colors on the right side of my naked palette, especially the dark grey and silver. They scare me haha. I picked up a beauty blender today from a drugstore band and I’m not a big fan of it. My morphe m439 brush did a way better job and ate less product. I did use it for my concealer and it worked like a dream so I plan on giving it a few more chances! Thanks for the great tips 🙂 it’s always nice to find someone super friendly on here!

        • Of course, I am always happy to help and it makes my day to talk to other bloggers and support one another! I’ve been wanting to try the Lumi Cushion, but when I went to CVS today it was about $20! That’s crazy! “Creep” and “Gunmetal” are my least favoritesm too! Good luck with your beauty blender! xoxo
