Hey, everyone! Today I will finally be doing a makeup look inspired by Blake Lively’s look at the premiere of Green Lantern. I promised I would do this a few months ago in my 5 Celebrities Who Always Have the Prettiest Makeup post, but I wanted it to be perfect. Since today is officially the first day of Spring, I thought doing this post would be perfect because Blake’s makeup is perfectly fresh, warm, glowy, and feminine for spring time! Also, this post is even more special because it’s a collaboration with my friend Izzie Cristina (from the No Mirror Makeup Challenge) who made a hair tutorial inspired by this exact same look over on her YouTube channel! Keep reading if you want to know how to acheive Blake Lively’s amazing makeup!

First thing’s first, Blake Lively always has flawless and dewy skin while still looking very natural. The perfect product to acheive this Blake Lively-esque skin is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation because it’s lightweight, buildable, dewy, and naturally flawless! But If you are looking for a more affordable option, the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation also gives this effect. A great high-end option for a brightening under eye concealer is the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer while a wonderful drugstore option is the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.

One thing that makes Blake’s makeup different from other celebrities is that she usually does not contour her face. Instead, she creates a subtle all-over bronzed look that appears very healthy and gives her some added color. The Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel cream bronzer would work well for this look, but if you prefer powder bronzers, then the N.Y.C. Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in “Sunny” also looks really nice while still staying matte.

In my inspiration pictures, her blush is a very glowy and healthy looking coral color, so I decided to use the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16 Hour Blush in “I Will Always Love You”, but the Maybelline Master Hi-Light Powdered Blush in “Coral” would look lovely as well!

To get Blake’s gorgeous glow, I actually used a sample of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in “Rose Gold.” This is a liquid fomula that provides an intense lit-from-within radiance without any sparkles or glitter. A much cheaper alternative would be the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in “Rose.Click to view full size image-2.jpg

After priming my eyes, I used the two middle shades from the Revlon Illuminance Creme Eyeshadow Palette in “Not Just Nudes.” I patted the shimerry one all over my lid and blended the darker matte one into my crease.  Blake Lively, along with many other gorgeous celebrities, has hooded eyes, which means that the skin above her crease covers the majority of her eyelid, making it appear smaller. She has a warm golden bronze shimmery shadow all over her eyelids and then brings it above the crease of her lid and blends it up and out.  This gives the illusion that her eyes are more open and less hooded, but if you do not have hooded eyelids, then you can do your eyeshadow like you normally would. You can tell her shadow is more dramatic in the outer corners and almost creates a subtle cat eye shape. To acheive this look, I used “Smog” from the Urban Decay Naked Pallette, but the crease shade from Wet n Wild’s “Walking on Eggshells” trio or the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Single in “Cinnamon Spice” (discontinued but renamed “Constant Toast”) have similar bronzey shades, too. She uses a light champagne shade in her inner  corner to brighthen her eyes, so I used UD’s “Sin”. The browbone shade from “Walking on Eggshells” or the lightest shade from the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad in “Chai Latte” work wonderfully at highlighting the eyes. She also has a shimmery gold shade on her lower lash line. If you want, you can use a gold pencil eye liner or a gold eyeshadow like the one from the “Chai Latte” Quad or “Half Baked” from the Naked Palette.

This is completely optional, but if you would like, you can create a very, very thin and natural non-winged line very close to the upper lashline using your favorite black eyeliner. It shouldn’t really look like you’re wearing eyeliner, but will make your lashes look lifted and thicker. You can also fill in your eyebrows if you want; just make sure they look natural and sleek.

In this specific look that I am recreating, Blake is clearly wearing fake eyelashes, which make her hooded eyes more dramatic and open. Hers are very soft and fluffy and because they are fanned out and longer on the outer corners, they make her eyes look more wide-set and elongated. If you are like me and would rather wear mascara, the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara or the L’Oreal Carbon Black Voluminous mascara are both great for this look.  Make sure to apply mascara on your bottom lashes too! I like the L’Oreal Telescopic for doing this!

For her lips, Blake went with a very natural and soft rosey shade with a very glossy finish. Literally, any more sheer natural-looking lipstick will work as long as it is layered with a rosy gloss! If you are looking for a high-quality affordabe product similar ot the one Blake Lively wore to her premiere, the Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms work really well for this and they have a variety of glossy shades perfect for any skin tone!

So that’s all for my Blake Lively Green Lantern Premiere inspired makeup look for Spring! Be sure to check out Izzie’s hair tutorial and please let me know if you want to see more of these celebrity inspired looks! Also, what do you think of the high-end and drugstore alternatives? Thanks so much for reading, happy Spring, and love you lots!

XOXO,
Makena
