For the most part, doing makeup on myself is easy, but I am always looking to challenge and express myself. That’s why doing makeup on my younger cousin Madison — whose facial features are the exact opposite of my own — is always so fun! Last time I featured her on my blog, she requested a bronze and coral look, so this time, she requested a cool-toned, rosy look. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing her confidence shine when she finally looks in the mirror and sees the final look.

{FACE}

When I am creating a makeup look, whether it is on myself or on someone else, the base is by far the most important and the most enjoyable part of the entire process. Madison has dry, sensitive skin, so prepping was key. After cleansing and moisturizing, we used a few drops of the Revlon PhotoReady Rose Glow Hydrating + Illuminating Primer for, well, hydration and illumination. For medium coverage that is somehow indetectable on the skin, we both love the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Liquid Foundation,  which I applied with a flat top brush and then blended out with a damp beauty sponge. To highlight under the eyes, I used a touch of the hydrating Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Undereye Concealer in ’20S Light Sand,’ and then I set her face with the Rimmel Transparent Stay Matte Powder; I used a damp sponge to apply both of these products.

{CHEEKS}

For her cheeks, I wanted to add color and definition while still keeping everything soft and seamless. She suggested I use her Tarte Hampton’s Weekender Contour Palette, which features three wearable shades with gorgeous formulas. I bronzed, rather than contoured, the perimeters of her face, focusing on her cheekbones, and then applied the rose-colored blush to her cheeks. In addition to using the champagne highlighter in this trio, I also used the Kylie Cosmetics Kylighter in ‘Quartz’ — an icy golden shade and one of Madison’s most-loved products — and focused on the apples of her cheeks.

{EYES}

After browsing my collection, Madison immediately fell in love with Huda Beauty’s New Nude Eyeshadow Palette, which inspired us to create a cool-toned rosy look. After patting ‘Bare,’ a matte cream, all over her eye as a base, I gradually blended ‘Lace,’ ‘Secret,’ and ‘Tease’ in the crease and upwards and outwards to the outer corner for a coo-toned, matte, mauve effect. After cutting the crease using the concealer in the palette, I applied ‘Daydream’ and ‘Crave,’ two of the most beautiful, multi-dimensional shimmer, onto the inner half of the lid. For a pop of brightness, I used a damp brush to apply that same ‘Quartz’ Kylighter on top of the shimmers; this took a while to build up, but the contrast of the yellow in this shade made the other, more cool-toned shadows stand out, which she loved. I exaggerated the subtle cat-eye effect using ‘Love Bite,’ a darker matte berry, on the outer corner. We pumped up her lashes using the L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara. To frame the face, I used the Morphe Brow Cream in ‘Biscotti’ and then the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel in ‘2’. Maddie has very fair features, and she highly recommends this combination for achieving the perfect natural yet polished brow.

{LIPS}

Madison has the most stunning eyes, so we wanted to downplay the lips to maintain balance. I used the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in ‘Dusty Rose’ for added color and longevity, but I blurred the edges of her lip line so it stayed soft and youthful. Lastly, I dabbed on the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in ‘Petal,’ the prettiest sheer pinky nude, to complete the look.
