Today, for my 2nd day of Twelve Days of Christmas, I am going to be reviewing one of my favorite lip products for Winter: the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color! These are $7-9 depending on where you buy them and can be purchased at any drugstore or at Ulta.
One of the best aspects about this line is that there are 16 different shades, so regardless of your skin tone, your color preference, or your occasion, you will always be able to find the right color, which I love!
One thing that really stands out to me is the pretty, frosted matte tube and silver cap. The plush doe-foot applicator is also really nice, too. It is always amazing when drugstore brands have more high-end packaging!
The best thing about this lip product is the unique and high quality formula, which is a twist on the average liquid lipstick! The lightweight gel formula feels very comfortable and soft on my lips, almost moisturizing in a way. It never feels drying on my winter lips and none of the shades emphasize any dry patches. I will say that these have more of a velvet-matte finish once they dry down after a minute or two, so they are not 100% matte like the name suggests unless you blot your lips after. They are definitely not glossy or anything, but you should be aware that they are a bit creamy, which I personally like. Each shade is highly pigmented, so I only need to apply one layer to acheive a flawlessly opaque look. These also last several hours depending on how much you eat or drink, and the darker shades leave a lovely stain on your lips. Although I would consider these long-lasting, they can be removed without rubbing your lips to death if you make a mistake or just want them off, so that is also a bonus. If you are sensitive to scents, all of these have a fairly strong fruity and sweet mango-vanilla scent until they dry down, so keep that in mind.
A few months ago I first tried the shade “Seduction,” a stunning browny-pink that honestly flatters light to dark and cool to warm skin tones so well! With warm skin, it leans more of a subtle pink, and with cool skin, it leans more of a subtle tan – a great neutral option for this time of year. I loved and used this one so much that I recently bought two other shades that are perfect for the holidays!
“Kisses” is a mauve shade, which I think is so Autumn and Winter-appropriate because it is a bolder color while still being completely wearable. Again, I think this would look beautiful on porcelain skin tones all the way to very deep skin tones.
The third color I have is “Passion,” which is a very festive neutral red shade that is bright and deep at the same time, ideal for the holidays!
This is one of the very best lip products that I have ever tried, highend or drugstore, and because of the incredible quality, the innovative formula, and the wide shade range, I am rating it 5 out 5 stars, especially for the Winter holidays!
XOXO,
Makena

Great review! Been wanting to try these for a while, but I have very dry lips and I’m really scared of buying matte lip products 🙁
Thank you so much for reading! I have chapped lips too, but because these are not completely matte, they are far less drying than you would imagine. I would recommend exfoliating and moisturizing your lips first, but these are honestly amazing! xoxo
Thanks for the info. Would definitely love to try it out soon! 😀
Really wanted to try this before and now I will definitely try it! Great review!
Thank you for reading, I appreciate it! I love these so much since I need something moisturizing and not completely matte. Let me know how you like them! xoxo
[…] Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in “Passion”: These innovative liquid lipsticks are my favorite formula for Winter because they have a long-lasting, pigmented velvet-matte finish and a creamy formula. This is a slightly deep yet slightly bright red shade with neutral undertones, perfect for Christmas! Please check iut my full review here! […]
[…] Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in “Seduction”: This is such a great lip product for Winter because it has a velvet matter finish and a moisturizing formula, but this particular pinky beige shade has been my go-to all year. It works with so many different skintones and whenever I am unsure of what lip color to wear, I can always count on this one.
