Christmas is the perfect time of year to go all out, whether it’s for decorating the house, cooking a gourmet meal, dressing up in a fancy outfit, or simply doing a full face of makeup. This tutorial will show you the steps needed in order to create a glamorous and festive makeup look perfect for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years, Prom, or any other special holiday event!
EYES
For this look, you’re probably going to want to do your eyes before the skin because there might be some fall-out involved. Like always, we’re going to prime our eyes first and then we will take an extra step and use cream eyeshadows as a base to add some extra dimension. I went in with the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Leather Cream Gel Eyeshadow in “Creamy Beige” in my crease and then applied the third shimmery medium color from the Revlon”Not Just Nudes” Illuminance Cream Eyeshadow Palette all over the lid an blended everything out. Next, I used my holy grail L’Oreal 24-Hour Infallable Eyeshadow in “Amber Rush” on a stiff, flat brush and patted all over my entire lid, making sure to stay below the crease. What really makes this specific look unique and special is the fact that I applied that wet, concentrating it on the very center of the lid. Once you dip the brush into the product, you can spritz the brush with something like MAC Fix Plus, water, or even eye drops and this will make the shadow even more metallic and intense, which is what I was going for. After this step, I went in with L’Oreal 24-Hour Infallable Eyeshadow in “Bronzed Taupe”in the very outer corner. You can use a matte shadow instead and that would look just as nice, as well. I then blended everything out with MAC’s “Soft Brown” in the crease and outer edge, which is an esential part of making this look polished and clean. Next, I decided to use the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Leather Cream Gel Eyeshadow in “Dramatic Black” as eyeliner, but a gel liner or whatever liner you usually use will look great, too. Too Faced’s “Better Than Sex” Mascara is my favorite mascara for when I want thick, dramatic, voluminous, and fluffy black lashes.
FACE
This eye look honestly looks great on all skin-tones and eye colors and goes great with pretty much any face makeup, so the following info is just guidelines if you need any ideas. I just bought the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfexting Base primer hoping it would blur my pores, but I’m still deciding what I think about it. Let me know what drugstore primers you like, please! I think that slightly dewy skin looks amazing with this “natural” smokey eye, so I like using Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation to get this effect. I used L’Oreal True Match Cocealer on any blemishes and redness and then highlighted and concealed my under-eye area with my Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer. I sculpted out my cheekbones with my Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Cream Bronzer and then contoured my face with Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, which I absolutely love! Any blush will look lovely, but I decided to use the Tarte “Unleashed” blush from the Rainforest After Dark palette because it’s a stunning matte nude rose shade that will realy let the shimmery eyes stand out. To make my face complement my eyes, I used MAC’s “Shroom” eyeshadow as a cheek highlighter and felt that it did a great job of tying the entire look together, making it more holiday appropriate, and making my eyes pop even more! I set both my under-eyes and my T-zone with MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Pressed Powder and finished my skin off with the Urban Decay “All Nighter” Setting Spray.
LIPS
This is the part of the look where you can really express yourself and be creative! If you’re feeling especially bold and festive, you can go with a red lip like the ones I mentioned in my Lippies and Lyrics post. However, I was feeling a nude lip today, so I chose to use my fave NYX Retractable Lip Pencil in “Nude” and Too Faced’s “Naked Dolly” Lipstick, which is a true creamy nude with soft pink undertones
I hope you found this glamorous holiday makeup look helpful, and I’ll talk you tomorrow for another day of Christmas!
XOXO,
Makena
