A Love Letter to the Tom Ford Soleil Glow Stick| Review

Last December, when I found out that I was chosen as editor-in-chief of my school’s magazine (read my edition on gender equality here), I decided to buy myself a congratulatory present: the stunning, luxurious, and absolutely incomparable Tom Ford Soleil Glow Stick in the shade ‘Megeve.’ I have admired this $55 cream blush and highlight duo for so long, so it is one of the most cherished products in my collection.

It can be purchased online or in-story from Tom Ford, Sephora, Nordstrom and other high-end department stores.

The dual-ended Glow Stick has sleek, white plastic packaging with gold detailing that feels simple, classic, and luxurious. Both sides twist up and down, containing a generous amount of product: 0.35 ounces, to be exact. This packaging does get dirty easily, especially since I prefer to apply the creams with my fingers, but that’s kind of unavoidable.

The Soleil Glow Stick is available in three different shades to suit light, medium, and dark skin tones; although these are pigmented, the cream formula is sheer enough to adapt to the majority of skin tones, but there is still room for improvement.

’02 Soleil Neige’ is a coral blush with a shimmery pearl highlighter for light skin tones.

I have a medium tan skin tone and wear ’03 Megeve’— a rosy nude blush with warm undertones and a shimmery champagne highlighter with rose gold undertones.

’04 Courchevel’ is a deep brown with berry undertones and a shimmery bronze highlight with warm gold undertones, which would work well for deep skin tones.

With lightweight, cream formulas, both the blush and highlighter have a dewy finish that is most compatible with normal and dry skin types and weather that is not overly hot or humid; if you have oily skin, you might not be impressed with this product. However, both sides of the Glow Stick work just as well and look just as beautiful when worn underneath powder products. Given how emollient the formula is, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it lasts all day.

The blush is shimmer-free but has the most beautiful sheen for a natural, healthy glow. It is pigmented and opaque, so a little goes a long way. However, it is also very easy to blend out due to its emollient formula.

The highlighter has fine shimmer with a more glossy — but not sticky — finish that catches the light beautifully. It is less pigmented than the blush, but it can be built up as desired.

The quality of this product is so amazing and its overall effect is pretty, glowy, and fresh. I love it so, so much that I actually purchased myself another one as a back-up, which I have never done before! I genuinely cannot recommend this enough!
