ZOEVA Makeup Artist Zoe Bag Rose Golden Volume 2 | Luxury Makeup Brush Review

Today I am reviewing a beauty product that I never thought I would be lucky enough to own — the ZOEVA Makeup Artist Zoe Bag Rose Golden Volume 2, a stunning collection of 15 face brushes, 14 eye brushes, and one lip brush. The set can be purchased online from the brand’s website for $295. As you can see, the matte peachy nude handles, rose gold ferrules, and pristine white bristles create an elegant and luxurious look, which is what initially drew me to this set; I have wanted these for a few years now but because they were so expensive, I wanted to use my older Sonia Kashuk and Real Techniques brushes for as long as possible and save my money.

These are by far the softest brushes I have ever felt. Around half of the brushes in the set are made with pure synthetic hair while the other half is made with a natural synthetic hair blend with treated goat hairs. This is important information because both types perform differently. Natural hair brushes are typically best for applying powder products because they are fluffier and move. more freely. Synthetic hair brushes are typically best for applying liquids and creams because they absorb less product and are more precise. I have not cleaned these yet so I do not know how well they wash, but I plan to dedicate an additional blog post to that process in the future.

I realize that spending this amount of money on makeup brushes is very extravagant and may seem silly to many people, but after using these for several weeks, I can confidently say that this is by far one of the best, most worthwhile purchases I have ever made! I have so many more options than I did before when applying my makeup and genuinely use every single brush except one or two. I think this set is worth the money because of the incredible variety, quality, and design; it is ideal for people like me who are obsessed with makeup and incorporate more advanced techniques and especially for professional makeup artists working with clients. That being said, no one needs this product and you can still get great brushes for a much more affordable price.

With free shipping, my package was delivered one week from the day I ordered it, which was impressive considering it was sent all the way from Europe. The brushes arrived protected with plastic covers on the bristles, zipped safely in the Zoe bag, which was in a white silk drawstring bag and a sturdy box with the brand’s custom tissue paper. This attention to detail may seem trivial but it truly transformed this from simply a product to an entire experience, which made it even more worth the money to me.

The rose gold faux leather Zoe bag is composed of three sections, one with zippered mesh pouches and clear pockets, one with larger brush slots, and one with clear pouches and a few smaller brush slots. This tote would definitely be excessive for most people, but if you are someone who likes to bring lots of makeup when traveling, then it is so convenient.

Luxe Grand Powder (Natural/Synthetic): I enjoy using this large, fluffy brush to apply setting powder all over my entire face. I also reach for this to blend out the powder products I have already applied to my cheeks just to ensure everything looks seamless. If you enjoy applying bronzer with a large fluffy brush, you might like this too.

Luxe Face Definer (Natural/Synthetic): I always reach for this large yet tapered brush when it is time to apply and blend out my bronzer. Because it is so fluffy, it is perfect for applying blush toppers to give my cheeks added dimension and glow. This could also work well for applying blush or setting powder.

Buffer (Synthetic): Out of the three foundation brushes in the set, this one is by far my favorite; it is very dense so it quickly buffs out my liquid foundation with circular motions without absorbing too much product. When I want a more full coverage look, I use this and then go over my entire face with a damp beauty sponge, which I still prefer to brushes. It can also be used with powder and mineral makeup.

Luxe Highlight (Natural/Synthetic): This brush is the best for applying intense powder highlighters to the tops of the cheekbones and apples of the cheeks.

Luxe Face Paint (Natural/Synthetic): I like using this flat brush to apply a precise contour under my cheekbones before blending it out with another one.

Face Shape (Synthetic): I reserve this for applying and blending out my cream contour and bronzer and it does an excellent job. It can also be used with powders too.

Face Curve (Synthetic): This brush is intended to apply and blend foundation but I honestly never like these types of brushes.

Luxe Face Focus (Natural/Synthetic): This is a flat brush with rounded edges, and I like to use it for applying powder underneath my eyes and around my nose. It can also be used to highlight.

Stippling (Synthetic): This is great for those of you who prefer more light coverage bases — just make sure you use up and down patting motions rather than circular ones. I initially thought I would dislike this brush because the hairs feel very sparse and flimsy but it works well with tinted moisturizers and BB creams, as well as cream blushes.

Luxe Cheek Finish (Natural/Synthetic): Even though this brush is more flat than round, it is still quite fluffy, making it very versatile. It can be used for blush, bronzer, or highlighter and looks pretty either way.

Luxe Sheer Cheek (Natural/Synthetic): I love using this angled fluffy brush to apply my blush. It is smaller and less round than what I would normally use but I find that the shape helps everything look more natural and precise.

Luxe Fan (Natural/Synthetic): Although I prefer using the more traditionally shaped brushes in this set, this fan brush is lovely for feathering out highlighters along the cheeks. Apparently, it can also be used for blush and bronzer, but I don’t think that would work well. This one is the most fragile out of all the brushes, as it is the only one that has a few misplaced hairs.

Luxe Powder Finish (Natural/Synthetic): While this brush is intended for highlighting, I prefer using it to precisely contour my cheekbones for a sculpted look. I consider it a smaller version of the 126.

Luxe Powder Fusion (Natural/Synthetic): This is my favorite brush to apply powder highlighters with; it is a little smaller and less dense than the 105. Because this one is extremely soft and fluffy, I also use it to blend out my eyeshadow sometimes when I am in a rush and doing a simple look.

Concealer Buffer (Synthetic): I do not like using a brush to blend out concealer under my eyes at all, but I do use this to spot conceal blemishes on my face. It blends out the product without making it fade away.

Luxe Grand Shader (Natural/Synthetic): This is a very large, flat brush intended for patting one eyeshadow shade all over the lid, but I prefer using it to conceal and prime my eyes before shadow or even to apply eye creams during my skincare routine.

Petit Eye Blender (Synthetic): This is a smaller blending brush — less fluffy and more dense — making it useful to shade the crease and outer corner.

Luxe Eye Blender (Natural/Synthetic): I adore using this eye brush to blend out any harsh lines, focusing on my crease and outer corner since it fluffy but more round and less tapered

Smudger (Synthetic): As the name suggests, this brush is used to smudge out eyeshadow or pencil eyeliners along the upper and even lower lash line. I like how this is rounded on the edges rather than simply straight across, which makes it easier to use on smaller eyes.

Luxe Soft Definer (Natural/Synthetic): This wider fluffy brush beautifully applies an all over wash of color to the lid and effortlessly blends out the crease.

Luxe Crease (Natural/Synthetic): This brush is longer, very tapered, and extra fluffy, making it helpful to blend out the crease.

Luxe Petit Crease (Natural/Synthetic): One of my favorite eye brushes, this small, slightly tapered one is perfect for contouring the crease and also popping on an inner corner or brow bone highlight. It blends more precise areas so well.

Cream Shader (Synthetic): If you use cream eyeshadow or prime your eyes with concealer, this larger flat brush is your best friend.

Luxe Smoky Shader (Natural/Synthetic): Because this one is flat and not too big, I actually use it to apply my shimmery shadows all over the eyelid. It works wonderfully when damp too.

Contour Shader (Synthetic): This brush is best for applying darker shades to the outer V, as it thin and angled.

Luxe Precise Shader (Natural/Synthetic): This itty bitty brush is useful for adding small accents to eye looks

Fine Liner (Synthetic): If you find it difficult to use an angled brush with liquid liner or prefer a soft, diffused look with eye shadow, this one is perfect for you. I also use it to apply shadow to my lower lash line.

Wing Liner (Synthetic): Perfect for creating everything from the thinnest possible line to the most dramatic feline flick, this liner brush is easy to control and has the ideal angle.

Brow Line (Synthetic): This brush is a little wider than what I would normally use but it makes filling in my brows with powder so much faster while still being precise.

Lip Contour (Synthetic): This brush is really unique in that it has a rose gold cap. You can toss the brush in your purse for on-the-go touch-ups without staining anything and then attach the cap to the end of the brush while applying your lip color.
