Summer is my favorite season, not only because of the warm weather, the beach days, and the relaxation, but also because of all of the exciting makeup I am able to incorporate into my everyday beauty routine! Today I gathered six of my all-time favorite makeup products for summer, so I hope you enjoy reading about why I love them for this time of year!
The Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination to Oily Skin (review here) is my go-to beauty product for an effortless and dependable summer base! The thin formula blends into the skin for an undetectably lightweight look that still covers redness and blemishes beautifully. This bb cream has a demi-matte finish that never looks overly flat or dewy; in the warmer months I do have combination skin so this balances out my dry areas with my oily t-zone perfectly. It has SPF 20 and lasts well over 10 hours without ever looking greasy or cakey, making it ideal for long summer days in the sun! This truly performs like a high-end foundation and if you can only get one base product this summer, please make it this one!
In order to achieve an intense, high-shine glow, I always reach for my beloved BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Champagne Pop”! The golden champagne shade with peach undertones truly is universally flattering for all skin tones and compliments all of my peach, coral, bronze, and gold summer makeup looks so well. Although this highlighter is very expensive, I believe it is completely worth it and because this formula is so pigmented, long-lasting, blendable, and smooth, a little goes a very long way. It is definitely not the most natural highlighter, but it provides a pretty, subtle everyday glow when used with a very light hand, and can easily be built up to an intense, blinding look for summer nights and memorable photos. If I could design my dream summer blush, this Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16-Hour Blush in “I Will Always Love You” would 100% be it. This is an absolutely gorgeous peach shade with warm, yellow undertones, making it fresh and wearable for summer, but my favorite part is the finish. This blush has the most beautiful and natural-looking sheen, making your cheeks look glowy without any flecks of shimmer whatsoever! The formula is pigmented and silky, lasting all day long. If you are interested in this peachy, lit-from-within flush, make sure to read my full review for more details.
The NYC Smooth Skin “Sunny” Bronzer is one of the most popular drugstore bronzers for a reason – this formula has just the right amount of pigmentation and blends out flawlessly without ever looking patchy or harsh. I love that this warm brown shade is not too orange or too red, and since it is completely matte, it is ideal for emphasizing my cheekbones, jawline, and temples. I honestly have no idea how NYC created such a luxurious bronzer for under $5, but my wallet and I are very thankful, especially in the summer!
My Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette, which I reviewed here, is definitely one of the most-prized makeup products in my collection. This was a very hyped up palette and although it is not for everyone, I personally adore each and every shade in it, especially during summer time! As with every other Too Faced product I have tried, this is very high quality, and the well-thought-out assortment of peaches, corals, bronzes, and plums gives me so much freedom to create endless warm-toned neutral looks with wearable pops of color! Every time I open this and get a whiff of the sweet peach scent I get so excited to do my makeup and embrace summer even more.
I have been using my L’Oreal Pop Balm in “Caring Coral” for years and no matter how many other lip products I have, I always go back to this one when summer rolls around. It has a hydrating formula and it provides a sheer, yet extremely wearable wash of color to the lips. Although this balm is not marketed as being long-lasting, I do not find myself having to reapply this very often. I love wearing this true coral shade because it really compliments the peach, bronze, or gold hues in the rest of my makeup and creates a much more harmonious look; my favorite trick is to mix this with a matte tan lipstick (like MAC “Velvet Teddy”) to create my more wearable twist on this ideal tropical shade!
I apologize for mentioning these same beauty products on my blog again, but they truly are the best of the best and I would never throw mediocre makeup in one of my posts just so I could talk about something new! Which of these products would you be interested in trying and what are some staples in your summer makeup collection?
